HOME-BASED SESSIONS :

There are several key ways that set home-based counseling apart from traditional office-based counseling. 

It takes place in the client’s home. In some situations, the ride to and from the counseling sessions can be tense and uncomfortable. Home-based counseling takes away this barrier because the therapist comes to you.

​

It offers counseling services in cases where they may be more difficult to obtain or inaccessible such as when there may be an illness, disability, personal crisis, lack of transportation or childcare.

​

In the case of child or family sessions it often makes it possible for more members of the family to be involved in the therapeutic process because there is no travel involved for the client, increasing the potential for lasting change that extends beyond the time spent in treatment.

Home-based counseling means that there is no waiting in a waiting room with other clients until the therapist is ready to see you. This can create a space that feels more private to the clients.

​

Both clients and therapist form the therapeutic space. The clients have more control over the environment than in an unfamiliar office setting. This can be especially helpful with teenagers, for example, because therapy is occurring on their turf, so to speak. The therapist simply provides guidance on the characteristics that make the space most conducive to effective therapy.

The relationship between client and therapist often happens more quickly inside the client’s home because the client is often more comfortable in his/her own home. This means that progress could potentially happen more quickly.

Therapists can assess and intervene in a client’s everyday environment, making the intervention easier to put into practice with the therapist present to coach clients through it. 

 

Home-based counseling can be utilized for individual, couples, or family counseling and can be used for a variety of populations. There are many advantages to home-based therapy that are conducive to therapeutic progress and lasting change. These advantages are important when considering whether the best option for you and your situation is office-based or home-based.

Online hypnotherapy is a safe and convenient alternative to face to face sessions. It is just as effective as working together in the clinic and follows the same structured approach. It's useful if you are restricted by time, location, family commitments or medial conditions, making it accessible to all.

The initial online consultation via Zoom, provides a safe and secure connection and gives us the opportunity to trial the process before committing to future sessions.
